Counseling for adults, teens and couples of all kinds.

The best way out is always through.
— Robert Frost

If your important relationships are sad, stressful, stormy, or just plain suck, you’re my ideal client.

As humans, we’re relational creatures.

We’re just wired that way.  There’s no denying that we are happiest when our important relationships are going well. Whether the difficulty you’re experiencing is with your sweetheart, spouse/partner, ex, parent, child, sibling, friend, frenemy, boss, co-worker, the dude at the DMV, or the person you see in the mirror, I’ll help you find your way to happier relationships.

How?

You and I work collaboratively to identify and resolve the old stories and reactive patterns that interfere with your ability to create peaceful, meaningful, and joyful relationships. Any or all of them. We focus on strengths and solutions, we experiment with a variety of tools and skills until we find what works best for you, we create your relational MacGyver toolbox, and we practice using the tools and skills both in session and out in the world.

We’ll learn about things like:

Mindfulness

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is of great benefit to our physical and emotional well-being. And it isn’t necessary to don a robe, assume the lotus position, and meditate for hours to practice mindfulness (not that there’s anything wrong with that). What is necessary is the willingness and commitment to keep practicing.

Accountability

Accountability

Accountability means that we accept personal responsibility for how we choose to feel despite the situation or circumstance.  It means that we consciously shift from wronged victim to thriving agent of change because that’s how we roll when we’re accountable to being our best selves.

Forgiveness

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is a mindful transformation of our previous thoughts, feelings, and behaviors about the offense and toward the offender.  Releasing the deep hurts and justifiable anger we feel allows us to experience relief and offers both the psychic room and the peace of mind to truly heal.

Healing

Healing

The stories we tell ourselves can negatively impact healing. Just as the placebo effect illustrates the power of belief to improve outcomes, unhealthy beliefs based in guilt, shame, blame, and lack contribute to declining health and well-being. We are literally making ourselves sick with our stories.

HOW TO TELL YOUR KIDS ABOUT YOUR DIVORCE
ONLINE COURSE

You’ll need to figure out how to tell them. Be careful with this. It’s going to change their lives forever, and you’ll want to make sure you do it right. Take my course on How to Tell Your Kids About Your Divorce. You’ll learn the how, what, where and when along with what your kids are thinking when they hear the news. It also includes some sample scripts on what to say. It’s good stuff. You’ll be glad you were prepared and knew what to expect.
